Crisp, Tangy, Bubbly…a refreshing change! //

So this has been a while in the making but personally I am really excited about the release of this album tomorrow. Riva Starr is producing some finely balanced house music right now, mixing classic techniques with brand new, head fuck samples and ideas.

I’ve listened to the album preview on his myspace page and will be first in the queue to pick up a copy of the full release, not just for DJing purposes but for the car, the gym and pretty much any other situation, such is the effortless glide between big room tech-house monsters like “Maria” and “China Gum,” to the quirky, refreshing randomness of “I Was Drunk” and the edgy, hip hop sounds of “Dance Me.” I was also really drawn to a track called “Once Upon A Time in Naples,” which is a really simple but effective sample/groove track which I could and have been listening to for hours!!

What I find really interesting about Riva Starr is his approach to making music that suits all sorts of genres, not wanting to pigeon hole himself as a ‘tech-house’ producer, or ‘minimal’, or ‘fidget’ or whatever you’re in to! I also like the videos that accompany his tracks, such as:
